St. Louis Children's Hospital is an acute care pediatric hospital with a unique healing garden located on the 7th floor roof of the hospital. The Olson Family Garden is a 7,500 square foot outdoor restorative garden designed with patients and families in mind during their hospital stay, a garden to reconnect with nature offering over 40 events each year. Music concerts, storytellers, magicians and butterfly release programs. St. Louis Children's Hospital provides horticultural therapy services for patients to participate in gardening projects as part of their therapy goals; exercise, endurance, memory recall, fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, social interaction.
St. Louis Children's Hospital is a member of the Plants of Merit program displaying many of the ornamental perennials, trees shrubs and annuals recommended by the Missouri Botanical Garden program in addition to educational gardens of carnivorous plants, scented plants, and vegetables plants.
